About The Hearth Method

  • The Hearth Method is a trauma-informed, Hatha-based yoga approach that emphasizes accessibility, consent, and mindful pacing.

Grounded in traditional Hatha yoga principles, the Hearth Method prioritizes breath awareness, functional alignment, and intentional sequencing. Classes are offered in small groups to support individual choice, embodied awareness, and nervous system regulation. This approach provides a supportive environment for practitioners of varied experience levels to explore yoga as a sustainable, relationship-centered practice.

  • Hearth Method classes are rooted in Hatha yoga, with an emphasis on:

    • Steady, accessible postures

    • Conscious transitions

    • Time to feel and explore each shape

    • Breath awareness and pauses between movements

Classes move at a measured pace, allowing space for rest and integration.

  • Instruction is:

    • Clear and invitational rather than directive

    • Focused on functional alignment and personal choice

    • Offered with options and variations

    • Light on constant verbal cuing, leaving room for internal awareness

Students are encouraged to listen to their bodies and adjust or rest at any time.

  • The Hearth Method is designed to support a wide range of bodies and experiences.

    • Modifications and props are encouraged

    • Demonstrations may be offered, but participation is always optional

    • Touch is never used without explicit consent

    • Resting, stepping out, or observing is always welcome

There is no expectation to push, perform, or “keep up.”

  • Whether held in-home or in community, classes are intentionally small to foster:

    • A calm, non-competitive environment

    • Greater teacher attention and care

    • A sense of safety and ease

The atmosphere is quiet, warm, and grounded — supportive without being overly social or performative.

To help set clear expectations, Hearth Method classes are not:

    • Fast-paced vinyasa or power yoga

    • Fitness-oriented or performance-driven

    • Highly choreographed or music-led

The focus is on sustainable practice, not peak effort.

  • All props are provided, including blocks, blankets, straps, and bolsters. Participants are asked to bring their own yoga mat for comfort and hygiene.

The Hearth Method invites you to practice Hatha yoga at a pace that supports awareness, steadiness, and ease, without pressure or expectation.

I work at the intersection of body, earth, and care, guided by a deep respect for slow process and attentive presence. My approach to Hatha yoga is rooted in listening—to breath, sensation, and the subtle ways the body communicates its needs in each moment.

My teaching is informed by both long-term yoga practice and formal nursing education at Emory University, where my training emphasized informed consent, trauma-informed care, and person-centered practice. These foundations shape how I hold space in yoga settings, prioritizing agency, clear communication, and responsiveness.

As a long-time yoga practitioner and RYT-200 instructor, I view yoga as a practice of return rather than achievement. Instead of pursuing idealized forms, I emphasize functional alignment, individual choice, and adaptability. Each session is shaped by intention and awareness, allowing the expression of a posture to shift from day to day and from body to body.

The Hearth Method grew from this way of teaching. It is a small-scale, in-home Hatha yoga practice centered on warmth, safety, and mindful pacing. Classes are intentionally held to support nervous system regulation, consent, and embodied awareness, offering space for practitioners to slow down, soften, and listen. Change is invited to unfold naturally, without force.

I live and work in Atlanta, where I teach yoga as a grounded, relational practice—one that honors the body’s wisdom and supports sustainable, deeply human movement.

The Hearth Method has taken shape over time, guided by care and intention. Each step has invited me back to my values and toward work that is meant to last.
